 AN UNUSUAL DROP DIAL CLOCK
by Tritschler & C0. – London

An fine oak drop dial clock with carved surround and integral bracket.
The 15.5” surround is finely carved with a garland of oak leaves, acorns and husks. The clock is set on an integral bracket, housing the drop, which is similarly carved. The box has a curved top with silk backed sound fret and a side door on the left. There is a locking trap door under. The brass opening bezel, with lock and key, has a silvered sight ring. The 10” painted dial has Roman numerals and is signed Tritschler & Co. 402 Oxford Street, London*
The blue steel hands are of spade design. The well built movement with 4 turned and curved pillars has twin chain driven fusees with anchor escapement and rack strike sounding the hours on an alto bell. The overall height is 24”. * The company was founded in Holborn c.1760, various branches were opened including the most famous Oxford Street business with John Tritschler trading as Tritschler & Kleyser and later as John Tritschler & Co. and Tritschler & Co. c.1844

 A SMALL VERGE WALL CLOCK
by Richard Laurence - Bath

A Georgian wall timepiece by this renowned maker. The overall diameter of the turned mahogany surround is only 12” with a brass bezel enclosing the silvered dial. This 7.5” dial has Roman hour numerals and Arabic 5 minute markers, there is a subsidiary silvered dial with a regulating lever, it also contains an aperture for the false pendulum bob. The dial is finely engraved Richard Laurence – Bath. The blue steel hands are fretted and pierced. The rebuilt mahogany box has a locking trap door under. The 8 day fusee movement has A shaped plates with 4 turned and ringed pillars, the verge drives through a crutch and a suspended pendulum as favoured by this maker; the suspension spring is fixed to a beam moved up or down by an eccentric wheel connected to the regulator lever. Richard Laurence was born in Warminster in 1729, he moved to Bath and set up a flourishing clock and watch making business. He was also very much part of the lively social scene in Bath at that period. He became a Sheriff in 1770. He died in 1773.

A FINE DROP DIAL
by BROCKBANK AND ATKINS - LONDON

The unusual mahogany case has an 18” octagonal surround with concave curves between the solstices. The drop has a flame mahogany front with shaped viewing window in a brass surround, there are brass line and octagonal disc inlays. There are well carved side decorations and a side door; there is a locking trap door in the curved base. The overall height is
59 cms. The 11” silvered dial has Roman numerals and is engraved BROCKBANK AND ATKINS – LONDON. There are blue steel spade hands and a heavy cast brass bezel with beveled glass. The double fusee movement has turned pillars and anchor escapement, the rack strike sounds the hours on a mellow bell. The backplate is also engraved - BROCKBANK AND ATKINS – LONDON. The partnership of Brockbank and Atkins worked
in London 1815 – 1835. This clock c.1820.

 A RARE WALL CLOCK
A remarkable wall timepiece made by Wales and McCulloch, London The case has a fine 17” turned surround of polished Cuban mahogany and the 11” dial is also made of mahogany with applied gilt/brass Roman numerals with gilt/brass minute markers.The dial has the makers name WALES & McCULLOCH – 56 CHEAPSIDE depicted in gold lettering. The gilt/brass hands are fretted and decorated. The cast brass bezel has a patination matching the surround. The mahogany box has a side door and locking trap door on the curved base. There is a brass ’Patent Applied For’ lozenge on the case. The 8 day single fusee chain driven movement has rectangular plates with turned pillars and is supported on brackets attached to the surround with stabilizing screws at the top. The anchor escapement is controlled by a pendulum with a double sided brass bob. The innovative partnership of Wales & McCulloch were working in Cheapside, London from 1863 – 1881. c.1870
