MANTEL CLOCK
An unusual oblong ebonised case on turned feet with vertical brass banding, brass carrying handle and bezel displaying the glass fronted 4 1/2" Roman dial with blue steel cathedral hands.  The 8 day  movement has anchor escapement with patent suspension and countwheel strike sounding hours and 1/2 hours on a bell.  The round back plate has the anchor trademark and is signed Farcot Bté à Paris.  Farcot was an innovative maker best known for his patent conical pendulum of 1872 and various patent suspensions.  Height 28cms, Width 18cms, Depth 9cms.
