FINE CARRIAGE CLOCK
A  fine hour repeat carriage clock by Henri Jacot in gilt brass Corniche case with oval top prism, carrying handle and repeat button.  The enamel dial has Roman numerals and blue steel spade hands.  The 8 day movement has 13 jewel lever escapement on a silvered platform and rack strike sounding hours and half hours on a gong with hour repeating mechanism.  The backplate has the Jacot parrot impressed trademark with the inital JH and the number 5259 and the inside front plate is stamped with oval lozenge "H. Jacot, Paris" with the medal dates 1862, 1865, 1867 & 1878.  The original key has the same 5259 number.

Henri Jacot, 31 rue de Montmorency, Paris won Bronze medal at the Paris shows in 1855 & 1862 but he died in 1865.  He was succeeded by his nephew of the same name who was responsible for the production of these superb carriage clocks with the parrot trade marks which later won silver and gold medals in 1877 & 1900.  This clock is Circa 1880.
