PORCELAIN CLOCK GARNITURE
A superb Carl Thieme Potschappel (Dresden-1875) flower encrusted porcelain clock. The balloon case is surmounted by three putti, below is a painted scene of a seaside fishing port,  the clock sides feature maidens modelled with baskets of flowers and fruits. The porcelain dial has Roman numerals in gold set within circular cartouches, the centre has a beautifully painted angel. The dial is inscribed Bailey, Banks and Biddle, Philadelphia. The gilt brass Fleur-de-Lys hands within the ormolu convex glazed bezel. The 8 day French movement has Brocot suspension and escapement with rack strike sounding the hours & half hours on a bell. The back plate is inscribed E.M. The two accompanying unsigned garnitures are in the form of candlesticks with coronet covers. Bailey, Banks and Biddle were famous American clockmakers founded circa 1878. E.M. is the monogram of Edouard Maurice, a fine French maker of movements and carriage clocks later as E.M.& Co. Rue Charlot, Paris
