MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK

A fine architectural case with Gothic inspiration, the front with flame mahogany panel within a brass frame, the sides have silk backed brass sound frets and brass carrying rings with floral sheath motifs. There is a brass bezel with lock and convex glass and a locking glazed back door. There are pyramidic side finials and carved trim on the roof with a carved acorn top finial. The 7" painted dial has Roman numerals and is signed
Newsom Tottenham. There are blue steel moon hands. The 8 day double fusee movement has anchor escapement and rack strike with star wheel sounding the hours on a bell with a repeat pull under. The plates have cut out shoulders and five pillars. The back plate is nicely engraved Newsom Tottenham.  He is recorded as working in London circa 1800.
