ROSEWOOD CARRIAGE CLOCK

A beautiful carriage or mantel clock in a fine rosewood veneered case with floral marquetry on the top and sides and on the plinth which has rounded corners and an ebonised top moulding. The case is delineated by boxwood line inlays. The front glass lifts out for winding, there is a top inspection glass and a lift off back. There is a gilt brass carrying handle. The enamel dial has Roman numerals and is signed Hry. Marc a Paris. The hands are blue steel slit moon pattern. There is a patent adjuster over the XII. The circular movement has anchor escapement with the adjuster for timing. There is a countwheel strike sounding the hours on a silvery bell. The backplate is imprinted with the Hry. Marc – Paris oval logo and also with the Vincenti & Co. Medaille d’Argent circular stamp. The plate and the pendulum bob is numbered 14140. c.1870
